"Safety Guide for Vampires for Commuting at Night"

"Safety Guide for Vampires for Commuting at Night"
What? Why would a vampire be commuting at night. Well, I'm not referring to the literary figure with their porcelain white skin, piercing eyes and sexy sharp fangs with androgynous names like Lestat,  Louis, Armand, or the more recent Edward Cullen et al. I'm actually referring to the BPO graveyard worker, the shared service employee, the call center agent who toils in the unholy hours of the night and dawn.
While the growth  of the BPO industry has created a sub-industry that caters to the needs of the BPO worker such as 24 hour food shops etc, a more devious sub-industry is developing as well preying on the  vampires who take the public transportation to get to work. Here are but a few tips on what to do when you get into such a situation.
1. If you're taking the bus, be as casual as possible. Most BPO's observe a casual dress code so it won't take a smart criminal mind to single you out as a
"vampire."  Avoid garish clothes and expensive looking watches that just screams "Hey I just got paid."
2. Carry only as much cash as you need.  If ever you get into a situation where you are in physical danger, do not play the hero. Give up the cash. It is just not worth risking it. Sure, you've probably taken some jiu jitsu classes, or you probably weigh a fighting 205 lbs, but then again the dirt bag that's holding you up has a lot more to lose and will most probably kill not to lose it.
3. If you are able to, maintain atleast two ATM accounts. One where you can store your hard earnings and another one for daily use with just a small amount of cash. There have been instances where hold up men would bring their victims to the ATM and force them to withdraw their funds.  Same goes with credit cards, with credit card companies pretty much giving it away, I'm sure most "vampires" have atleast two.  Just bring one.
4. Cellphones. Ahh...the ubiquitous item of the 21st century. Statistics would show that 84% of vampires have atleast 2 cellphones.  I  guess it can't be helped.  One then needs to be smart about it. Keep it out of view as much as possible.  Make sure to hide your other cellphone somewhere its not easily discovered.  If you got two cellphones, you might want to maintain an older one just so it won't hurt too much if it gets stolen.   Ipods and other MP3 players. Same deal with number four. It's understandable to get as much comfort as you can while commuting and listening to your ipod certainly helps drown out the noise of the hustle and bustle,  it paints you out as a target. So I guess you need to make a call.
5. Cash. Have an emercency stash in another part of your anatormy. A rolled up hundred in your sock would work nice.

It is always our aim to become an integral component of our client's process and not just be a service provider. Anyone can provide service, not everyone can add value."

Incoho is a BPO which started operations in 2002 with a niche focus on commercial collections on North American based receivables. Incoho’s foray into the outsourcing sphere started with local accounts which involved doing consumer collections for two of the Philippines’ top credit card issuing banks. Among our early successes with our clients involved conducting recovery collections for a major US based telecommunications company. Incoho was tasked to work on extremely aged receivables. The collectors jokingly referred to the project as doing “voodoo collections” because it was tantamount to raising the dead. But despite the age and delinquency of the accounts, Incoho still managed to generate significant yield and provide value to our client. It was this tenacity and entrepreneurial spirit that lead to other clients and projects in other aspects of the outsourcing universe.

Incoho’s line of businesses has grown to include collections, both consumer and commercial, list build and lead generation, research and data entry, and Returned Mail solutions. Our focus still remains with our core skill which is a very customer service, solutions oriented approach to collections.

Incoho Photography Workshop Pictures

It was a sunny Saturday morning. I was about to hold a photography workshop with some of my colleagues who have recently bought DSLR's and were eager to explore the capabilities of their newly acquired toys. I was excited as well. I always find it fulfilling to share tips to new photobugs and seeing the amazement in their faces when they view their camera LCD's and see the results.  So with a very quick powerpoint presentation on aperture, shutter and ISO controls and an intro to basic compositional guidelines, we were out the door and in a few minutes were out the Ayala Triangle snapping away. I've noticed that its usually faster for people to learn when they're actually pressing the shutter button.

What I usually get asked first is "how do you get that blurry background on portraits?" and with a quick set of instructions on using the appropriate aperture and a little hand holding at first, they're snapping away pictures after pictures of portraits with sharp subjects but with a creamy, blurry background.

Everyone seems to want to achieve that effect common on most portraits and its actually very easy to achieve.

To illustrate what shutter controls can do, I had my colleagues try to capture jumping shots. And with a little guidance, they were capturing jump shots in no time.

After what seemed like hours taking portraits and jump shots, and enduring annoyed looks from Ayala Triangle guards, we were back to the office to view the results of the morning's efforts.

Thanks to the participants for allowing me to share some of the pleasures of photography.  Happy Snapping.
